I was a student with Salem in Madison and remember him as "a heck of a nice guy" indeed. He was from LaCrosse, I was from Tomah, so we became Coulee region buddies. He was generous, driving a bunch of us to Evanston for a Badger versus Northwestern football game. The Badgers were terrible those years, so we saw them lose, but I remember laughing and joking the entire time. So sorry for your loss. I lost contact years ago, but remember him well.

Salem was a fun guy that loved to play bridge even though he always said he was a poker player at heart. He had a great time fishing with his buddies and going to DU banquets. I always enjoyed his insight into business and his "hot stock tips". He will be missed by a lot of people.

Going back to the days of "The Shack" in his back yard when we were teenagers, I saw Salem become a very kind, generous and formidable man. I am sure his passing leaves a large void not just in his family, but in the community.
