Our deepest sympathies to the Everson family. We are so very sorry for your loss. There are no words that can fully express our sadness and regret. Our thoughts and prayers are with you! Ben was our daughter’s teacher last year. She is trying to make sense of his passing and is greatly saddened by it. Not knowing Ben outside of a parent-teacher relationship, my memories are relative to his personality. Kind, gentle and always with a smile and wave when bringing the kids out to their parents at the close of school — that is how I will remember him, as well as from school events and conferences. ...Wishing Ben and his family peace.

We were absolutely heartbroken to hear about Ben’s death earlier this week. He was such a kindhearted soul - we always thought of him as a giant teddy bear. We will never forget our daughter Isabel’s 2nd grade year when she had her appendix out and sweet Ben had all of her classmates make her cards, which made her day. We were with him for two years at Viking and can only imagine the huge hole that is left there with his absence. We are Christians, but will never understand why things like this happen. We will keep you all in our hearts and prayers and on our minds and wish you peace amidst the grief, now and in the months to come. May you find comfort in each other.

Rest In Peace Ben. We had a lot of good time throughout our school years and also at Winona State. I remember heading down to the pool room at WS and playing hours of pool together and also running to get a breakfast sandwich before classes started. You were a great friend and was always there to put a smile on anyone’s face with your quick comebacks. You will be greatly missed Ben. Thoughts and prayers to all your friends and family.

Many great memories of growing up on the same street and walking to school, but mostly shagging balls at the Holland ball park in left field while you quoted every Harry Doyle line from Major League in your best Bob Uecker voice. We shared so many will be missed.

We were shocked to hear of Ben's passing. We remember hiring a big eyed, eager college graduate. He brought such an energy, humor, enthusiasm to the elementary level that it impacted so many children and adults positively. He was such an asset in all phases of his life. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

We are so for your loss of Ben. We have so many memories of all the basketball tournaments that the boys played in. We had a lot of fun times watching them play and then relaxing in the hotel afterwards. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

I am so sad for all of you. I worked with Ben when he taught at Evergreen in the Multi-age classroom. (loved the bulletin boards) (private joke that Ben and I shared) I learned quickly that Ben was a friendly, dedicated teacher. No matter where I ran into Ben he always took the time to ask me how I was and how my family was doing. I have been blessed to work with his children along the way. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Please let us know what we can do to help you all. God Bless, Patty Bagniewski

Ben, if we just had another day to chat it would brighten my day. You were one of the unique ones that loved and lived life to the fullest. You thought I was the smart one for all my knowledge to save you a buck, but you were the smart one by living life to the fullest and all who loved you for who you were. I don’t know many others as authentic as you which is a trait everyone could learn from you. I’m a pretty mellow guy, but anytime we talked or texted, I laughed hard. Rest In Peace buddy, I’ll always remember. Peace out LARRY!

I have had the honor of working with Ben for many years. He was always kind, thoughtful, grateful, gracious, and never uttered a bad word or thought about anyone or anything. The first and only hug I got from Ben was this past Halloween when I made him a rock costume out of paper and yarn. He was so happy! He always said thank you after I did anything for him, which was mostly reading with his students. He always asked if it was okay with me, or if I had time to do whatever it was he needed done. Ben was the kind of person one enjoyed helping. I will miss him with all my heart. My sincere thoughts and prayers are with you all.
