Obituary for Cliff Dikeman
Clifford “Cliff” Dikeman, age 93 of La Crosse drifted away peacefully with his wife by his side on Monday, February 8th, 2010. Cliff was born in La Crosse to John and Louisa (Goyette) Dikeman on May 28th, 1916. Cliff worked for the Conservation Corps both During the Great Depression and World War II. He was joined in marriage to Gertrude Hagen on December 13th, 1941. Although Cliff could find joy in many things in life, Golf would easily stand out as a favorite. He spent many good times with friends at Pine Creek golf course in La Crescent, MN. He was also a proud member of Eagles Aerie 1254 in La Crosse.
Cliff is survived by his wife of over 68 years, his daughter Karen (Ken) Wenzel of Eau Claire, WI, his daughter-in-law, Sally Christ, his sons, Richard (Beverly) Christ of Cotter, Arkansas, and Merwin Dikeman of Emerald, WI, son-in-law, Robert Hembd Sr, sisters, Frances Konetchy and Evelyn Eno, both of La Crosse, twenty one grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jean Hembd, son, Kenneth Christ, sisters, Ruth Chesebro and Louise Scott, and brothers, George, Richard, John, and Frank Dikeman.
The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center, Dr. David Momont and the staff at Dickinson Family Funeral Homes.
Funeral Services will take place on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Olivet Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Baldukas officiating. Friends and family are invited to a visitation at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of services. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in La Crosse.
