Norma J. Denny, 87, of La Crosse peacefully passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Onalaska Care Center. She was born in La Crosse on July 13, 1929 to Frederick and Dollie (Knebes) Simenson. On September 3, 1954 Norma married Wesley Denny and he preceded her in death on August, 24, 2015.
Prior to her marriage, Norma worked for the Board of Education. After marrying Wesley, she raised five children and enjoyed watching her family grow for future generations. She was an active and life-long member of Bethel Lutheran Church and served her church in many capacities. Norma was a Charter and life member and President of La Crosse Assembly of The Social Order of Beauceant, a lifetime member, Grand Electa, Worthy Matron and secretary for 30 years of the Order of the Eastern Star Ruth Chapter #23 LaCrosse. In Norma’s spare time, she enjoyed sewing, baking, reading, crafts, and spending time with her family, friends, and children.
Norma is survived by two daughters, Jane (Jon) Bahr and Helen Muetze both of La Crosse; three sons, Mark Denny of La Crescent, MN., Scott (Kim) Jordan-Denny of Grand Forks, N.D., and Paul (Lori) Denny of Luck, WI.; ten grandchildren, Katy Denny, Christopher and Megan Jordan-Denny, David (Lindsay) Bahr, Sarah (Weston) Skye, Eric Bahr, Laurin and Ryan Muetze, and Morgan and John Denny; four great grandchildren, Ava and Ella Ottinger, Frederick Swygman, and Grayson Bahr; and brothers-in-law, Donald Denny, and Bill (Lorraine) Café, and two nieces; Sue DeGeorge and Pam Klenke.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents,a sister, Marion Café, a sister-in-law Frances Denny, and nephew Bill Café.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1931 Loomis Street, La Crosse. Pastor David Bersagel will officiate and burial will be in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
The Dickinson Family Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
