Obituary for Roy E. Ticknor

Roy E. Ticknor, 74, of La Crosse passed away on January 15th, 2017 at Gundersen Medical Center. He was born in Omaha, NE on May 30th, 1942 to Merle A. and Ardeth P. (Crane) Ticknor. Roy served in the US Army from 1967-1969. He married Kathryn M. Ackman on July 27th, 1967 in New Richland, MN.
Roy was a loving and dedicated husband, brother, father, and grandfather. Roy always had a positive attitude, a smile for everyone, and an active social life. He embodied great strength and resilience throughout his life, especially during his fight with cancer. Roy had a passion for family, fishing, camping, traveling, playing cards, and antique cars.
Roy’s mechanical skills and interests developed into successful careers at United Auto Supply Company in La Crosse and Mosler Safe Company in Minneapolis. He was an active member, volunteer, and leader at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. He served on the Stewardship Committee, Property Committee, and as President of the Congregation. Roy and Kathy are especially proud of the development of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Endowment Mission Fund.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn; their children, Amy Ticknor (Larry Dauffenbach) of LaCrosse; Rob (Anne) Ticknor of Greenville, NC; and Molly Ticknor (Mike Leeper) of Kansas City, MO; his true pride and joy, Isaac Dauffenbach (grandson); his brother, Raymond (Judy) Ticknor of Bella Vista, AR; his sister-in-law, Caryn Wendt of Waseca, MN;
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother in-law, and his brother-in-law.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, January 19th, 2017 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, at 2135 Weston Street, La Crosse. Pastor Bruce Iverson will officiate. A visitation will be held from 2:30 pm until the time of the service. The burial will be on a later date at St. Olaf Cemetery in New Richland, MN.
The Dickinson Family Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements.
