Obituary for Doris M. Craig

Doris Mae Petterson Craig (nee Kunes) passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the age of 96. She was the first of seven children born to Forrest and Amy (Heineck) on January 5, 1921 in Melrose, Wisconsin.
She married Donald Petterson in 1940 after his death in 1968; then later married Ernest Craig in 1972 and moved from Melrose to Holmen. She enjoyed traveling the United States, traveled to Europe and spent many winters at their winter home in Harlingen, Texas. She was a member of Holmen Lutheran Church and Holmen American Legion Auxiliary.
Survived by her children, Donna (Woody) Davis of Shawano, WI., Suzanne (David) Frey of Onalaska, WI., Julie (Tony) Gruber of Omaha, NE., and Robert (Roxanne) Petterson of Black River Falls, WI.; grandchildren, Todd (Jean) Davis of Shawano, WI., Scott Davis of Englewood, CO., Amanda (Bjorn) Rietschel of Freiburg, Germany, Patrick Gruber of Chicago, IL., Andrea Gruber of Minneapolis, MN., and Joshua Petterson of Madison, WI.; great grandchildren, Zachary Davis of Shawano, WI. and Sophia Rietschel of Freiburg, Germany; sisters-in-law, Marlene, Lorraine and Joanna Kunes; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Margaret Parlow, Warren Kunes, Claire Kunes, Richard Kunes, Elaine Olson, and Robert Kunes.
The family would like to acknowledge and gratefully thank the entire staff at Brookdale Assisted Living, Onalaska, Dr. John Conzemius, and the Gundersen Palliative and Hospice Care units, La Crosse.
A private family service will be held. Burial will be in Melrose Public Cemetery.
The Dickinson Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
