Madelyn Ann (Chouinard) Grabowenski, 77, of Holmen, WI, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 surrounded by her family at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse.
She was born in Minneapolis, MN on February 6, 1940, to Marcel and Helen (Harich) Chouinard. Madelyn grew up in Winona, MN, where she graduated from Cotter High School in 1957. Through family friends, she met her husband Delbert E. Grabowenski. On November 21, 1964, Madelyn married Delbert and he preceded her in death on August 14, 1982.
Madelyn was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, where she happily volunteered her time in the office and during 5 o'clock mass.
She loved NCIS, baking, knitting, ceramics, making people happy and her grandpets.
Madelyn lived to take care of her grandchildren and had a special place in her heart for her honorary children and grandchildren Laura Muxfeld, Brian Jeffords, Bhurinut Bhumai, Gianmarco Pompeo, Valentin Biehl and Linus Fiedler. She always had an array of goodies ready for any visitor and loved spending every Kornfest eating chicken with her family out in the yard.
Madelyn is survived by four daughters, Lynn (James) Schnell of Plymouth, MN, Mary (Charles) Sanders of Galesville, WI, and Ann (Brad) Rediske and Teresa (Nathan) Heim both of Holmen; a son, Thomas (Kelly) Grabowenski of Holmen; ten grandchildren, Chelsey, Delaney, and Nick Sanders, Chelby, Megan, and Brady Rediske, and Troy, Ryan, Alexis, and Madison Grabowenski; a brother, David (Jill) Chouinard of Green Valley, AZ., sister-in-laws, Joan (Bruce) Buchanan of Winona, MN and Marlene (Michael Lord)Martin; niece Dana (Tracey) Laessig of Parker, CO and nephew Jim (Sara) Chouinard of Lakeville, MN.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Brandon Rediske and mother-in-law Alberta Martin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 515 N. Main Street, Holmen. The Reverend John Parr will officiate and entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona, MN. A visitation starting with prayer service will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 515 McHugh Road, Holmen. A visitation will also be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
