Obituary for Louise "Lou" Butterfield

Louise Ann Butterfield, 86, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2017, at Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse, WI.
She was born on November 20, 1931, to Olger and Emma (Bergerson) Knutson in La Crosse. She married Robert William Butterfield on January 3, 1948.
Louise “Lou,” enjoyed volunteering, reading, bowling, golfing, playing cards, camping, watching the Packers, and spending time with her family and friends. She attended Central High School in La Crosse. Lou worked for Lutheran Hospital from 1961 until she retired in 1999. She was a member of both the National Association of Health Unit Coordinators and La Crosse Area Association of Health Unit Coordinators. Lou was a 46-year member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, Aerie 1254. During that time she was President (1996-1997), named Mother-of-the-Year, and was an avid Chair for the Max Baer Heart Fund raising money for local and national research grants. She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary Ritual and Escort Team.
She is survived by her children, Jane Louise Bennett, Barbara Jean Keppen (and Roger Riley), and Kathy Lynn Sierp (and Steven Sierp); daughter-in-law, Debra (Malay) Butterfield; brothers Tony Knutson (Carol Knutson) and Richard Knutson; grandchildren, Kori (Bennett) Whitewater, Kelly Bennett, Chad Keppen, Kyle Keppen, Sidney (Sierp) Travers, Emma Sierp, Carrie (Malay) Cooper, Steven Butterfield, Joshua Butterfield, Logan Butterfield, Bobby Butterfield, Leah Riley and Wes Riley; 12 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Butterfield; parents, Olger and Emma Knutson; her son Steven Robert Butterfield; sisters, Van Nelson and Carol Jean Knutson; and brothers, Wayne Knutson and Odell Knutson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 1425 Jackson Street, La Crosse. The Reverend Dr. Anne M. Hokenstad will officiate and burial will be Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until time of service.
