Janis M. Anderson, 81 of La Crosse passed away Tuesday December 5, 2017 in her home surrounded by love and her family after a short battle with cancer.
She was born in her grandmother’s farmhouse in Jo Davies County, IL on February 25, 1936 to Raymond and Marion Teichler. Her family moved to La Crosse in 1949, where she graduated from Logan high school in 1954. She met the love of her life and best friend, Edward Anderson on a “blind date” and was married within the year on August 6, 1955. Together, they had 5 children - but so many more called her ‘mom’.
Jan was a homemaker, a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, & Sunday school teacher. She taught the love of crafts and baking to her kids and will always be remembered for these skills. She met wonderful people along her journey of life while selling Sarah Coventry and Home interior. Many of whom became lifelong friends. In her later years, Jan and Ed became pet sitters to several dogs for friends and family who were hospitalized or vacationing. She enjoyed their companionship and treated them like they were her own.
Jan’s passions were her faith in God, her family, and Disney vacations. For years she spent countless hours at Bethel Lutheran Church creating her crafts, quilting and baking for various craft shows/bake sales and enjoying her ‘church’ family. Her impact on the lives she touched is endless.
Jan leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, generosity and passion that will never be forgotten. She will be forever missed by her loving husband of 62 years Edward, and children Dale (Bonnie) Anderson, David (Kim) Anderson, Donna (Dean) Marquardt, Dianne (John) Lubinsky, and Daryl (Krista) Anderson. She had 8 grandchildren, Jon, Jeremy Shepard, Gwen, Chris (Chantell) Anderson, Deanna, Devin (Mindy) Marquardt, Nick, Sam Lubinsky, and 5 great grandchildren. Jan is also survived by her sister Carol Lulloff of Eau Claire, cousins Dixie (Tim) Fladhammer of West Salem, and Debbie (Dan) Market of Eau Claire.
The family expresses a special thank you to Pastor Anne Hokenstad, for bringing peace to Jan and her family during her final hours. It was a comfort having you with us. Thank you to the wonderful Hospice group that allowed us to bring her home for her final days.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday December 12 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1931 Loomis Street, La Crosse. Pastor Anne Hokenstad will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Monday December 11 at the Dickinson Funeral home at 809 Gillette Street and again 1 hour prior to the service at Bethel on Tuesday. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran church, the Coulee Region Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
