Hewelle Edwards, 82, passed away after a 13-year battle with the very ugly Alzheimer’s Disease on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Mayo Clinic Health System. He was born in Yancey County, North Carolina, on March 14, 1935, to George and Pearl (Wilson) Edwards. Hewelle served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He later married Kathleen "Kathy" Ann Brower.
Hewelle enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, cooking, travelling, playing euchre, casino trips, traditional country music, and sports of all kinds (especially the Packers and Brewers!).
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughter, Cheryl (Richard) Paulson, Cottage Grove, WI; sisters Kay Edwards, DePere, WI, Brenda (Pete) Goodwin, Ash Waubenon, WI, and Juanita Edwards, DePere, WI; brothers Hiram Edwards, Burnsville, NC; and Timothy Edwards, Salisbury, NC.; three grandchildren, Craig (Bridget) Cuccia, Kimberly Cuccia, and Logan Paulson; and one great-grandson, Andrew Cuccia. He is also survived by many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harrison and Breece Edwards.
Memorial services with military honors will be held on Saturday, February 10th at 11:00 a.m. at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 1425 Jackson Street, LaCrosse, WI. The Reverend Scott Skogen will officiate. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Hewelle can now rest finally in peace. He is relieved of pain and whole again.
