Obituary for Catherine Dummer Furman

Catherine Dummer Furman, 90 of Holmen went home to God on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Bethany Riverside Nursing Facility, La Crosse. She was born on the family farm in Stoddard, WI. on January 13, 1928 to Henry and Agnes (Mlsna) Dummer, the first of four children. Catherine attended all eight grades at St. Wenceslaus Catholic School in La Crosse.
Catherine worked several years at the Auto-Lite until her marriage to Gordon Tieskoetter on October 17, 1950. They farmed for 30 plus years in Harmony, MN. before relocating to Springfield, MO., later moving to Prescott, AZ. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Therese, Kathleen, Tom, and David. Catherine and Gordon later divorced. In 1983 she married Paul Furman and he preceded her in death in 2004. Catherine moved from Prescott, AZ. back to Holmen in 1998 to care for her aging mother.
In her younger years, Catherine enjoyed dancing at the Avalon Ballroom and Concordia Dance Hall. She also enjoyed playing the accordion and working in her gardening.
Catherine's last five years were spent at Bethany Riverside Nursing Facility. Catherine is survived by two daughters, Therese Dosdall of Scottsdale, AZ. and Kathleen Tieskotter of Louisville, KY; a son, David Tieskotter of Springfield, MO.; six grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister, Dolores (Francis) Brown of Onalaksa; a brother, Leo (Marie) Dummer; and sister-in-law, Shirley Dummer both of Holmen; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a son, Tom Tieskotter; and a brother, Francis Dummer.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 515 North Main Street, Holmen. The Reverend John Parr will officiate and burial will be in Green Mound Cemetery, rural Holmen. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
