Obituary for Kathryn Nederloe

La Crosse, Wis. – Kathryn B. Nederloe died peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the age of 83 at Gundersen Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born January 14, 1935 on the family farm in West Prairie in Vernon County to Oscar and Myrtle (Zitzner) Molland and baptized and confirmed in the North West Prairie Lutheran Church. Kathryn graduated from the Vernon County Teachers College and taught at BadAxe Valley and Mohawk Valley Schools. She married DuWayne Ronald Nederloe on September 21, 1951 and were blessed with seven children. Kathryn also worked for more than thirty years at Hillview Nursing Home in La Crosse where she met many of her life-long friends. In 1996 she was honored with the YWCA Tribute to Outstanding Women Award for her work with the elderly.
She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was always a priority in her life and was proud of each of them. She was a faithful, longtime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed her volunteer work for RSVP at the Gundersen Lutheran Gift Shop. She will surely be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her three daughters, Debbie (Ken) Woodruff; Laurie Nederloe; Lisa (Wally) Hillyer; her four sons, Steve (Jean) Nederloe; Jeff (Judy) Nederloe; DuWayne (Sue) Nederloe, Jr.; and John Nederloe; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bea Koch; JoAnn Hayhurst; Emma Oleski; brother Sigurd Molland; and longtime special family friend, Mary Kay Paul. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers Oscar and Peter Molland, two sisters Ernestine Koch and Danna Helgerson. Kathryn’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hillview Healthcare and to the Hospice unit at Gundersen for their loving care.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church (400 West Avenue South, La Crosse) with Pastor Schmudlach officiating. A time for visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services. Interment will immediately follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum in La Crosse.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church or to Gundersen Hospice.
