Obituary for Ona Rudella Mettler

Ona Rudella Mettler, 86, of La Crosse, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Hillview Health Care Center. She was born July 23, 1931 in Westby, WI to Helmer and Ella (Storbakken) Lee. She married Herbert Mettler on November 12, 1950 and he preceded her in death on December 23, 2008. Ona worked at Fleming Foods for many years and retired in 1998.
She enjoyed quilting, puzzles and watching birds. Ona was a regular volunteer at Bethany Free Church and thoroughly enjoyed meeting every Wednesday afternoon with her church ladies group and circle of friends. Above all else Ona loved her family. Her family was her life and she loved spending time with them.
She is survived by her children, Janet (Gary) Higbee of Johnston, IA, Russell (Terri) Mettler of Rochester, MN, and Larry (Mary) Mettler of La Crosse, 7 grandchildren, Melinda, Julie, Cory, Michael, Amy, Lisa, and Kevin, 4 step-grandchildren, Ron, Tonya, Kristina and Heidi, 9 great-grandchildren, 19 step-great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters, Evangeline Nofsinger and Carol (John) Heimerl, brothers, Gordon and Donald (Mickey) Lee, sisters-in-law, Patty Lee and Mae McDowell, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 2 sisters, Arlene Lee and Alida Moran, and brothers, Hansel, Orlando and Arnold Lee.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at Bethany Evangelical Free Church, 3936 County Rd B, La Crosse. Pastor Corey Sateran will officiate and burial will be in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Tuesday from Noon until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Arrowhead Bible Camp, New Auburn, WI or Hillveiw Healthcare Center. The Dickinson Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
