Stanley O. Olson, 93, of Holmen passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 at Onalaska Care Center. He was born in La Crosse on July 25, 1924 to Oscar and Stella (Holter) Olson. On May 7, 1949 Stanley married Evelyn Johnson and they celebrated 68 years of matrimony.
Raised on a rural Holmen farm in an era when hard work, faith in the Lord and true family values were the way of life, he lived by these values to his final days on earth. Stanley was an accomplished electrician having wired several homes built in Holmen throughout the 50's. The family moved to Holmen in the late 50's as he was employed by the Holmen Creamery at the time. Shortly after, he purchased which was at the time the first bulk milk route transporting milk from area farms to the dairy. Stanley and Evelyn also served as custodians at Holmen Lutheran Church for twenty plus years. Retirement was to never truly be a part of his vocabulary as he continued on with various projects and it has only been the most recent years that he has taken time to just sit back and relax a bit.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Evelyn; a daughter, Carol (Greg) Haug of Holmen; two sons, John (Laure) Olson and David "Bert" Olson both of Holmen; four grandchildren, Brandon (Kate) Olson of San Antonio, TX., Joshua (Fiancee, Ali) OLson of Waterford, WI., Jacob (Alyssa) Haug of Holmen, and Cassie (special friend, Adam) Haug of Onalaska; and two great grandchildren, Lauren and Sawyer; and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Alice (Lynn) Pfaff; and a brother, Palmer (Hazel) Olson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Holmen Lutheran Church, 228 Morris Street, Holmen. Pastor Matt Toso will officiate and burial will be in Green Mound Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
