Richard A. Fraser, 63, of Onalaska passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Gundersen Medical Center, La Crosse. He was born in Minneapolis, MN on May 10, 1955 to James and Lorraine (Hight) Fraser. Richard was joined in marriage to Cheri Lynn Beneker in South Korea in 1986 and they later divorced.
Rick started a career in sports and recreation which he later combined with his passion for taking photos to build his career around sports photography. In that, he was able to connect with many members of the community. Throughout the years, he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his dogs. He bonded with his friends and children over sports, by taking trips to spring training in Arizona and coaching his kids from the bleachers. During retirement, he continued to have a camera on his hip and enjoyed taking photos of the outdoors (as well as many awkward photos of his kids). He loved using his witty and sociable personality to make people smile and laugh. But most of all, he loved his children with all of his heart.
Richard is survived by two daughters, Kelci Fraser of Minneapolis and Marissa Fraser of Holmen; a son, Justin Fraser of La Crosse; three sisters, Marilyn (Paul) Sara, Betty (Roly) Madrid, and Jeri (Brad) Hoven; and two brothers, James (Debra) Fraser and Michael (Stacy) Fraser.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Cheri, and his parents Jim and Babe.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday August 11, 2018 at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 515 McHugh Road, Holmen. Pastor Jason Stanton will officiate and burial will be in Green Mound Cemetery, rural Holmen.
There will be a Celebration of Life reception following the burial at Black River Beach Neighborhood Center, 1433 Rose St. La Crosse, WI.
