Laura was born in Gays Mills, WI on January 25, 1923 to Theron and Grace (McPherson) Mitchell. On February 28, 1943 Laura married Lester Lind and they celebrated 64 years of blissful marriage during which they felt most comfortable by each other’s side. They had a son, Larry on June 8, 1958.
Laura’s strong work ethic started at an early age, as she worked long hours on the family farm in Gays Mills, until she graduated high school. She was very proud to have been Crawford County Dairy Queen in 1939. She worked for Civil Service at Camp McCoy military headquarters, where she met Lester. They married and after Lester returned from WW II action, they moved to La Crosse. She then worked at Electric Auto Lite until their son Larry was born in 1958.
Through the years, Laura was very active outdoors, including fishing, deer hunting and camping. She was also an excellent seamstress and loved to do crafts of all sorts. Laura also really enjoyed watching sports. She was an avid Packer fan, and basketball enthusiast at all levels. Laura was also very involved at Our Saviors Lutheran Church for 60 years, and worked long hours serving the Alter Guild.
She is survived by her son Larry Lind, three grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob & Kevin Lind and close family friends including Linda, Shannon and Kayla. She was preceded by her husband Lester, her parents Theron and Grace, brothers Eugene, Daryl, Loren and sister Hazel.
