Obituary for Henry "Hank" Kienahs

Henry “Hank” J. Kienahs, 86, of La Crosse, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall. Hank was born in La Crosse to Henry and Lillian (Koblitz) on July 12, 1932. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.
On July 14, 1956, Hank married Darlyne Nyberg. Together they had 3 daughters, Karrie, Lorrie and Vickie. Hank worked at his father’s greenhouse, Kienahs Greenhouse, in La Crosse, from there he worked for the City of La Crosse, as the ground keeper at Riverside Park where he took pleasure in maintaining the gardens in the park. He later worked for the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy and retired after over 20 years of service.
Hank was a true outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt. Darlyne and him would take trips to Florida, where Hank would fish Lake Okeechobee.
Hank is survived by his children Karrie (John) Robinson of Trempealeau and Lorrie Kienahs of Madison. He is furthered survived by his grandchildren, Nicky, Sara and Kris; and his great grandchildren, Chloe, Emma, Kylee, Taylor, Kariann, and Henry.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Darlyne; his infant daughter, Vickie; and his parents Henry and Lillian.
Memorial Services will be held on 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 1425 Jackson Street, La Crosse, WI 54601. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial with Military Honors will follow the service at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park.
