Obituary for Barbara L. Woodman

Barbara Louise Woodman, aged 71, Madison Passed peacefully on May 19, at her brother’s home in LaCrosse Wisconsin. Barbara was born in Beloit Wi. on March 13, 1948 to Stuart & Ellen Woodman of Milton Wisconsin. She graduated from Milton High School in 1965. She attended Blackhawk Technical College where she studied journalism. In 1971, she married Gregory Lukas (Milton), moved to Deerfield WI and gave birth to their daughter, Angela Lee on April 29, 1973. Barbara later married Gerald Hahn, and resided in Sun Prairie, Wi. Eventually, Barby moved to Madison and bought a condo on the northeast side.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Stuart Woodman and Ellen Woodman.
She is survived by her daughter, Angela Lee Lukas (Bradenton FL), her brothers, William (Shawn) Woodman, LaCrosse, James (Jan) Woodman, Ft. Atkinson, nephews Dan and Dylan Woodman, nephew Jon Huber(Lacrosse), nieces Lexie and Katie Huber(LaCrosse)and grandsons Nathan Hahn (Madison) and Austin Remington (Mauston), sisters from other misters, Sherry Yaun(Madison), Kathleen Daley(Waupaca) and Phyllis Carlson(Stevens Point).
Barby loved so many things, she filled her condo with vibrant colors, plants and family photos. She loved dancing, music, art, gardening, writing. She was a master seamstress and loved making gifts for everyone from hats, shirts, dresses and anything else she could think of, always with lots of color and love. However family and friends were her life. She worked in many different fields, from journalism in the early 70’s to retail, banking, clerical work and home remodeling. She will be remembered for her ability to light up the room where ever she went, her laughter, her flamboyant style, and her love for life.
A special thank you to the entire team at Chamomile Assisted Living in Madison for taking care of Barby. for six years after her stroke. Also Sylvia Boomsma and her grief group and Gunderson Hospice group, who provided comfort and respect on her final journey. An extra special thanks to Bill and Shawn Woodman for opening their home to Barby so she could spend her last days with family.
A memorial service will be held on June 9th at Emerald Grove Congregational Church, 8127 E US Highway 14, Janesville Wi. viewing at 11:00 with the service to follow at 11:30, after which she will be buried with her parents in Emerald Grove Cemetery.
Luncheon to follow at Emerald Grove Congregational Church, there will also be a celebration of life at the Madison VFW 5737 Cty Rd “CV" Madison from 4-6 pm.
