Obituary for James Edward Hancock

James Edward Hancock, age 73, of Holmen, Wisconsin, formerly of Minneapolis, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 16, 2019. He was born on July 28, 1945 in New Lisbon, Wisconsin to Eddie and Violet (Nelson) Hancock. James served in U.S. Army intelligence during Vietnam, having been stationed in England, Turkey, and Japan. He was joined in marriage to Mary Kay (Kalinowski) in June of 1994.
James enjoyed traveling to Canada to go fishing, hunting out west and many other outdoor activities. He was a fan of the Minnesota Twins, and the Green Bay Packers. His lifelong hobby was leather work, often giving his works as gifts to family and friends. He was a computer programmer for over 20 years.
James is survived by his sister; Elaine Fritz of Holmen, nephew; Greg (Cheryl) Fritz of Ramsey, Minnesota, niece; Gloriane Mayer of Holmen, great-nephews; Derek Fritz of Minneapolis, and Brandon Fritz of Portland, Oregon, his good friends; Doug Augustin and Clay Sorenson, and several other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife; Mary Kay (Kalinowski), his parents and his nephew; Gary Fritz.
A memorial service for James will be on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church (61 Mississippi Street NE, Fridley, MN). A time for visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
