Gladys E. “Blondie” Sibley age 91, of 1025 Oak Ave S Onalaska, WI passed away Saturday, June 22 at the Onalaska Care Center.
Gladys was born in Whitehall, WI on November 19th 1927 daughter of Oscar (1891-1987) & Myrtle (1901-1992) (Berg) Dahl.
She was a 1946 graduate of Whitehall High School.
On October 26th, 1946, Gladys married Leroy "Bud" Sibley (1921-1984) of Kellogg Minnesota, and resided on Caledonia Street in La Crosse, WI for many years.
Gladys worked at Autolite during the war effort. She was a visiting nurses aide and worked as a sales clerk at Gambles Hardware store as well as a local book store. She was also a cherished homemaker and mother.
Gladys was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in La Crosse, WI.
Music was always a part of Gladys's life. She enjoyed singing and started playing the piano at a young age and was self-taught on the piano and guitar. She enjoyed playing in a small group in her younger years with her sister and uncle. Her love of music was always a part of her life and she was thrilled to have the opportunity to follow her eldest son's, Boyd, bands through the years. She enjoyed playing card games, dancing, and would never back down from a competitive game of scrabble! She also enjoyed spending time with family and long road trips. Some of her favorite destinations were the Rocky Mountains, Washington DC, The Grand Tetons, Arizona and Marge's Cabin.
Survivors include her three sons Boyd Raymond (Anah Maa) Sibley, Bill Mark (Judy Hansen) Sibley, Richard Alan (Carmen) Sibley. Grandchildren: Matthew Sibley, Lyndsay Stuhr, Jenel (Sean) Berkowitch & Carson & Rowan Sibley. Great Grandchildren: Brodie Stuhr, Mya & Madelyn & Megan Berkowitch. Sister Arline Stuve and Edith Amundson. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her husband (Bud), daughter (Betty Lou), parents (Oscar & Myrtle), three brothers (Charles, Ernest, Russell), and sister (Margaret Sielasf).
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25th at 1:00 p.m. at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 809 Gillette Street, La Crosse. Pastor Scott Skogen will officiate and burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
