Obituary for Robert Merlin Horman

Robert “Bob” M. Horman, age 93, of La Crosse, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on August 26th, 2019, at Gundersen Health System.
Bob was born on the 5th of May in 1926, the third son to George and Calverna Horman in La Crescent, MN. The family moved to Onalaska, Wisconsin in 1932. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served in the Pacific during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Bob met the love of his life, Lenore (Lindy) A. Osterhout, at the root beer stand on the northside of La Crosse where she worked. Bob and Lenore were married on October 18th, 1947 at the Methodist church on Caledonia St in La Crosse. They moved into their La Crosse home in 1952 and raised three daughters. Bob and Lenore shared 72 wonderful years together. Bob was a kind and gentle man who seldom said a harsh word.
Bob worked for the Trane Company for nearly 42 years from where he retired in 1988. Bob enjoyed golfing, Sudoku, reading, watching the Packers, the Brewers, and the Bucks; dancing with his wife and spending time with his family and friends. Bob and Lenore were “snowbirds” for 20 years traveling to Arizona for the winter months.
Bob will be missed by his wife; two daughters, Linda (Jerry) Clark of Holmen and Laurie (TJ) Parks of Minneapolis, MN; five grandchildren, RJ (Tatiana) Perviski Jr, Kimberly (Jeremy) Waldner, Kristie Haller, Amanda Parks (Omar Whittaker Sr) and Zach Parks; seven great-grandchildren, Omar Jr and Olivia Whittaker, Elijah Parks, Nathan and Nolan Waldner, Genevieve and Donald Perviski; his siblings, Carol Schultze of La Crosse, Barb Walker of Tennessee, Mike (Barb) of Massachusetts; Marv (Fran), Erv (Raye), Howie (Rose), and Neale (Sheryl) of Onalaska; Judy (Carl) Munson of West Salem; sister-in-law Marcy Horman of Onalaska as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Leslee Hart; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ken (Barb) of California, Wayne (Nancy) of Port Washington, Doug (Pearl) of Illinois, Gerry of Onalaska; and brothers-in-law Alfred Schultze of La Crosse and Gene Walker of Tennessee.
A visitation will be held on Thursday August 29th, at Dickinson Funeral Home, 401 Main St, Onalaska from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and again on Friday August 30th, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service, with a reception to follow. Pastor Allison Cobb will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy and the Onalaska American Legion Post #336 at the Onalaska Cemetery.
